Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and Terms & Conditions

Transport / Delivery
FOR UK ORDERS: We despatch within 2 working days, and endeavour to despatch orders the same day if they were received before 1pm. Should there be a problem sending your goods we will notify you firstly by email and then by telephone. For UK Mainland deliveries, we use Royal Mail First Class Packets up to 4kg. Royal Mail manage to deliver almost all of our UK Mainland 1st Class orders within 1 or 2 working days.

Heavier parcels for the UK Mainland will be sent via UPS Economy Parcels where delivery is quoted as 1-3 working days after desptach. UPS are one of the most reliable carriers and we have found that most UK Mainland deliveries arrive within 2 days.

Occasionally a delivery could be delayed a few days, particularly at busier times around Bank Holidays or if there has been some extreme weather that makes deliveries difficult.

Please contact us if you have not received your goods after 7 working days.

FOR OVERSEAS ORDERS: Despatch is within the same timeframe as UK orders but delivery times will vary dependant upon the destination country. Delivery to Western Europe usually takes 3-5 working days by air. Deliveries to countries further afield can take a few days more although generally no more than 7 working days. We will always contact you via email if we believe delivery will take any longer than this for any reason.

Please contact us if you have not recieved your goods after 10 working days.

In all cases we can deliver much quicker by using a premium postal or courier service, but there will be an additional charge for this. Please contact us if you have a need for a guaranteed quick delivery.

Refund / Returns policy.
Customer satisfaction is paramount to us, therefore we offer a 'no quibble replacement guarantee' on all of our products. If you believe there to be a problem with any product within 30 days of purchase, please telephone or email us, and we will send you return packaging and a pre-paid returns label to return the goods to us. We will then send you replacement products completely free of charge.

Which size treat should I choose?
We advise using Little Liver Treats for training and then the Medium or Large for treating or as a greater reward at the end of the session. This is for two reasons. Firstly the liver powder has a very strong flavour and therefore even a small treat will be a big reward and secondly when you are training you don’t want the dogs attention to be taken away from the job in hand because he is busy crunching away on a big old treat!

Leave the big treats for the end of a training session when he can take time out to enjoy plenty of them!

Some of your products contain meat and fish products - should I be concerned about this?
Absolutely not! The quality of our Liver and Arctic Fish ingredients is certified human grade - which means it is suitable for human consumption. The ingredients in question are the best quality 100% Dessicated Porcine Liver and 100% Arctic Fish Powder both from trusted sources in the UK. We are very proud of the fact that every one of our ingredients is 100% natural and we guarantee that none of our products contain any artificial flavourings, preservatives, colourings or anything else.

Please also note that our ingredients are put in order of greatest percentage first, a system which all pet food and pet treat producers have to conform to. If your current treats have rice, wheat, cereal or any kind of 'meal' as a primary ingredient, then does this constitute a 'meaty' reward? We don't believe so. Our treats do not contain any cheap cereal, bone or meat 'meal' of any kind, only 100% natural, low fat and tasty premium ingredients.

What is the charge for postage & packing?
First of all we would like you to know that we do not make any profit from post and packaging.

For UK deliveries we charge the franked mail rate for 'First Class Mail Small Packet' up to a parcel weight of 4kg plus a nominal fee for packaging which will vary dependant on size/weight. The 'franked rate' is approximately 15-17% cheaper than the over-the-counter rate at a post office.

Larger UK orders over 4kg and up to 20kg will be sent via UPS economy delivery. This service carries an £8 standard charge for UK delivery + a nominal fee to cover our costs for packaging.

For UK consignments above 20kg we will always notify the customer of the cost before despatch.

These prices will be subject to change to take account of any Royal Mail and UPS price increases.

Overseas deliveries are charged at the Royal Mail International Franking rates for small packets plus a nominal charge for packaging. Royal Mail use 2 zones for International deliveries which are 'Western Europe' and 'Rest of World'. The postal charge will be worked out for you at checkout before payment is requested so you can see exactly what you are to be charged. Example costs at current (2011) prices for a 750g parcel are: £6.50 to Western Europe and £9.30 to 'Rest of World'.

How long do Barker and Barker Treats and Supplements stay fresh?

Treats that are stored correctly in an airtight container, will have a minimum two year shelf life. All products are stamped with a 'best before' date.

Are there any added colourings or E numbers?

Barker and Barker treats contain no added nasties such as artifical colourings, flavourings or preservatives. In fact, as previously stated, they contain nothing artificial at all. All ingredients are 100% natural, premium 'human grade' and are made for human consumption.

Will the treats go sticky in my pocket?
Barker and Barker treats only get sticky if they are wet. That's what makes them so perfect. They really are THE premium treats on the market today. All non tablet form Liver Treats are made of quick dried whole liver and these will nearly always crumble in your pocket by the end of your training session leaving a rather bad smell.

How many treats can I give over a 24 hour period?
A guide to usage can be found on the label of each of the type of treats you purchase. The only treat that is inappropriate to be given whole to small breeds and small puppies is the Large Liver Treat. This treat contains 1500mg of powder compressed to make a large treat for big dogs, however the treat contains the same quality of product as the little liver treat so even the smallest dog can have this treat but it must be broken into small pieces.

Will it still reward the dog if I use a small piece of treat?
Barker and Barker Liver Treats use a Desiccated liver that has a strong meaty flavour, so even a small piece provides good reward. In fact, we recommend that the Little Liver Treats are broken into as many as four pieces once a training period has commenced as you are then increasing your chances of getting the perfect behaviour you want without using too many. This is especially important when training puppies or CLICKER training.

We hope you will enjoy using your treats to give your dog a lovely reward while beginning or continuing your training or simply as an everyday treat and we look forward to hearing from you! Why not drop us a line to tell us how you got on with our healthy, exciting product, that we are sure you and your dog will love.
