Which size treat should I choose?
Have a little look at the video in the products section and that should help – we advise using Little liver treats for training and then the medium or large for treating or as a greater reward at the end of the session. This is for two reasons. Firstly the liver powder has a very strong flavour and therefore even a small treat will be a big reward and secondly when you are training you don’t want the dogs attention to be taken away from the job in hand because he is busy crunching away on a big old treat!
Leave the big treats for the end of a training session when he can take time out to enjoy them!
Your ingredient list says Meat and Animal Derivatives – isn’t that a bit dodgy?
There is a lot of noise about this term and the fact that it doesn’t specify where the meat is from or the quality. Please don’t tar us with the same brush! The only meat product in our treats is Liver and Haemoglobin Powder from a trusted source; moreover it is human grade – which means it is suitable for human consumption. We are very proud of the fact we only use the finest natural ingredients.
Please also be sure to note that our ingredients are put in order of which is greatest, all pet food and pet treat producers have to do this. If your current treats have rice, wheat, cereal or meal as its first ingredient is it a really meaty reward? Our treats do not contain any cheap fillers.
I haven’t received my goods – what
now?
We send packages up to 2kg by Royal Mail, if you
haven’t received your package within 15 days then we can chase
it up with them. Please check with your sorting office if a parcel
has been left with them as some parcels do not fit through a letter
box.
Larger parcels will go by courier for which we
have tracking numbers. Normally parcels are delivered in 2 working
days.
We will send replacement treats if you have not
received them within one week – please contact us and let
us know.
What is the charge for postage?
We charge the franked mail rate for second class
mail but in most cases send first class. Wholesalers with larger
parcels carry an £8 standard charge within the UK. These rates
will change after April 6th 2009 in line with Royal Mail charges.
How long do they keep?
Treats that are stored correctly in an air dry container have a two year shelf life
Are there any added colourings or E numbers?
Barker and Barker treats contain no added nasties such as colourings or preservatives. They contain nothing artificial – in fact all ingredients are to human grade which means they are fit for human consumption.
Will the treats go sticky in my pocket?
Barker and Barker treats only get sticky if they are wet.
How many treats can I give over a 24 hour period?
A guide to usage can be found on the label of each of the type of treats you purchase. The only treat that is inappropriate to be given whole to small breeds and small puppies is the Large Liver Treat, this treat contains 1500mg of powder compressed to make a large treat for big dogs, however the treat contains the same quality of product as the little liver treat so even the smallest dog can have this treat but it must be broken into small pieces.
Will it still reward the dog if I use a small piece of treat?
Barker and Barker Liver Treats use a Desiccated liver that has a strong meaty flavour, so even a small piece provides good reward, in fact, we recommend that the Little Liver Treats are broken into as many as four pieces once a training period has commenced as you are then increasing your chances of getting the perfect behaviour you want without using too many treats, this is especially important when training puppies or CLICKER training.
We hope you will enjoy using your treats to give your dog a lovely reward while beginning or continuing your training and we look forward to hearing from you! Why not drop us a line to tell us how you got on with our healthy, exciting product that we are sure you and your dog will love. |
